I love your post. Reminds me of the book, "Why men hate going to church." It is a truly nauseating experience for many men. Unfortunately, some of the worst are the Reformed churches. Many of the pastors believe that the whole focus of the Christian life revolves around their preaching. Equipping the saints for ministry may result in other men actually showing signs of leadership. There is room for only one leader and any apparent rising leaders is soon asked to leave or given the lead in the choir. How manly!

Don't forget that in the last several presidential elections, there have been more than 2 candidates on the ballot. I would prefer to do the right thing and trust in God's sovereignty than to be classified as an enemy of God by my actions.

This is a fantastic movie that illustrates the principles and beliefs that our Founding Fathers risked their lives for. In my opinion, it shows that there was no intention to have the "separation of church and state", which many people believe to be true. In fact, it's proof of the opposite. Our Founding Fathers were faithful, God-fearing men, who knew that without God, our Country would falter.

We must get back to the Biblical truths that this country was founded upon...

I agree. This era is a lot like the times of Martin Luther. There is a large entrenched professional class of religious leaders who will not acknowledge or teach truth. It appears many times that the greatest concern is to keep tenured positions or pulpits while knowingly approving of disobedient behavior in the church. We have heard a preacher in a supposedly conservative church get up in the pulpit and declare that all forms of education are equally acceptable whether it be public schools, Christian schools, or homeschooling. So, I guess when God says, ''parents teach your children" that can just be ignored and the parents can do whatever they want. Experiences like that leave the faithful remnant discouraged and wondering where to go for teaching and support. I write these articles knowing that literally hundreds of Christian lay people are spending blocks of time each week reading and sharing them with their families and friends. People often use them for devotionals with their families. Meanwhile, I am pretty sure it is rare for these same articles to be recommended by church leadership. Too controversial etc.
Anyway - thanks for your kind comments.

Thanks for the article. What is really tragic is seeing the high number of church leaders that want so badly to be liked by the secular world that they are willing to cave on these kind of issues. Then, when the science is proven wrong, they still refuse to repent and look for other theories to justify their compromises. What we need is a grassroots spiritual reawakening of the lay people. The big problem is our leadership (both political and spiritual).

Yo Don!
A very practically good article Don. A point to file away. Almost all religions believe that the universe is eternal. Science, until Hubble demonstrated to Einstein that the Universe is expanding, believed that the universe was static and eternal. The Hebrews had it right from the beginning. The Universe was created and is not eternal. Science had it wrong and still has it wrong because of the desire to create any alternative explanation other than a God drives the scientist priests nuts.
On a personal note, all is going well, I've been at work since Sept./Oct. I had been on unemployment for 9 mths. A first time for everything. Joshua is back at school and will get his BA in Architecture this spring. He'll stay two years until he wins his Masters. We're proud of him, naturally. Pray for Phil's safety. He is in Afganastan and Sarah is worried as well as we are.
 Talk with you soon! Rich

I love this article!!! It's perfectly descriptive of my current circumstances. I am a victim of the anti-Christian politically correct madness by militant secularists at Penn State University. I was terminated on August 31 for expressing my faith. I was forbidden from using the following Longfellow quote as an email tag: "Man is unjust, but God is just; and finally justice triumphs." That was a year after I was forbidden from using another quote during Thanksgiving about being thankful to God for his many blessings. I knew this was a blatant violation of my First Amendment rights, so I contacted the Alliance Defense Fund. To make a long story short, I was put in touch with an attorney who drug his feet while things got worse for me at work.

In May an atheist coworker began a discussion with me about the phrase In God We Trust. He expressed his dislike for the phrase and he came to my work area during down time to bring this up with me knowing I was a Christian. He argued with the clear facts as I showed him from an American history website that had info about the phrase. I even took him to the U.S. Treasury site and shared info with him. He became loud and argumentative and, our supervisor overheard the end of the conversation and I got in trouble for it!! Then another coworker sent me a video of a controversial Nascar prayer, and simply because I disagreed with her position regarding the prayer, I got in more trouble. This happened in the name of diversity. Both of these incidents were due to topics coworkers brought to me, yet I was reprimanded for having "faith discussions." People have so grossly distorted the "separation of church and state" fallacy that they believe God is forbidden from public mention. Things got progressively worse as I began to stand firm and resist this idea. They terminated me saying I was "insubordinate" and "unprofessional" (for merely discussing faith-based topics) even though I was defending the faith our country was built upon!!! This is an institution of "higher learning?" Pretty absurd, right?? I'm fighting this grave injustice through the PA Human Relations Commission, but it's a long, drawn out process, and they are lying through their teeth!! Please pray for me!!!

Grettings Don,

Well done, as always. I believe you are going to receive a request from friends of ours, Bob and Mary Holman, to reprint all or part of this piece. Please grant permission. They are embarking on an important work in Ky with key conservative leaders, about the need to have "self-professing conservatives" engage in a worldview assessment/study project. They truly want to address the very problem you describe.

Not sure if I had sent you link before, but would like you to look at our newest assessment project, PILLARS. See site listed above. If you want, please pass on link to your contacts, it is all free for a while longer.

Be well,
